Hugely controversial, healthcare reform in America is now underway. But China is undertaking a no less ambitious healthcare reform of its own. Now one charitable foundation has found an innovative way of contributing to the reform effort – by bringing in American doctors to train their Chinese counterparts. BON's Tom Spender has more.
Americans may be familiar with some of China's ethnic minorities, the Uyghur and Tibetan people being the most prominent example.
However, the Hui people, a Muslim minority found in the west of the country, are not particularly well known. The preserve their own customs and way of life, right down to the way they practice medicine.
BON takes a look at one Hui doctor who's doing his best to keep alive his people's age-old medical traditions.
