Chinalogue: Huawei’s Global Aspirations
Mar 11, 2011
After some resistance, Huawei, China's top private manufacturer of mobile network equipment, recently responded to calls from a U.S. government agency to divest its assets in 3Leaf, an American server technology company. It wasn't the first time Huawei faced questions over its ties with the Chinese government. Nevertheless, it has managed steady global growth, with a bid to equip the London Underground with cellular coverage for the Olympics currently under review.
With a former officer of the People's Liberation Army at the helm and in an industry constantly under the watchful eye of foreign governments, will Huawei be able to reassure its global clients that it can be trusted?
