Songs and dances in China-Chinese Touch-Episode 01

China is comprised of people from 56 different ethnic groups, each with their own culture and tradition. The cultural persity gave China a number of songs and dances that are not found anywhere else in the world. In this episode of Chinese Touch, we will take a glimpse of the different songs and dances of the various Chinese ethnic groups.

The ethnic Tibetan people are mostly found in high altitude mountainous regions in China. In order to adapt to the harsh climate, Tibetans wear large, heavy loosely fitting garments with large waist, long sleeves and a broad front. In this episode of Chinese Touch, we will look at the artistry and functionality of Tibetan clothing.

The Relie Gull is also known as the "Lost Gull". It was observed for the first time in 1929 in present day Inner Mongolia. It wasn't until 1971 that scientists determined the species to be unique from other gulls.

South China’s tropical island province of Hainan is determined to reinvent itself an essential destination for tourists from around the world. Although it’s not as well known as the islands and beaches of nearby Thailand and the Philippines, the Hainan boasts several world-class resorts. And now, it’s hoping to make traveling there a world-class experience as well. BON’s Susan Tart on what the provincial government is doing to attract more tourists.
Microsoft to open center in Hainan-China Beat-April 09

Microsoft is expected to establish an innovation center in South China's Hainan province, the first of its kind on the Chinese mainland, according to an agreement signed between Microsoft and the Hainan provincial government on Sunday. Li Guoliang, Deputy Governor of Hainan said the Microsoft Innovation Center will attract software enterprises in the fields of tourism and agriculture to Hainan. Li said the government hopes to nurture an ecology-related industrial software chain worth 5 billion yuan, or 798 million dollars.
