China won more gold medals than any other country in the world at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Some of those medal-winning athletes are now quitting their training to become local government officials. While no one doubts that they're talented, some people do wonder if they have what it takes to run an office. BON's Susan Tart has more.

In the first year after the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, an average of almost 20,000 visitors toured the Olympic Park each day. But as memory of the Olympics faded so to did the number of visitors - to just a few hundred a day. Now, in a bid to encourage more visitors, tourism officials in Beijing have opened a new theme park near the Olympic Stadium. BON's Kelda Yuen has more on the how the city government hopes promoting a green world will mean more green for them.

"Bird's Nest" Snow Festival

During last year's Beijing Olympics, the unforgettable opening and closing ceremonies of the Games were held at the National Stadium or "Bird's Nest".But since then bringing in enough cash to maintain the venue has been a problem.

The Bird's Nest was the focus of worldwide attention during the Olympics.Now, artificial snowmakers have transformed this symbol of the Beijing Games into a winter sports park, where visitors can enjoy winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding.

The cost of this winter wonderland in the northern suburbs of Beijing – and associated maintenance - is a cool 7 million dollars. But the admission of about 18 dollars - not a small amount for an average Beijinger - doesn't seem to have put off this local.
